Acceptable use policy

This policy is not boilerplate. Accounts that breach it are closed.

Breaching this policy results in immediate account termination without refund, and may be reported to the relevant authorities and to the affected platform.

Permitted uses

SMSPVO exists for lawful purposes, including:

  • Verifying an account that belongs to you, or that you are authorised to manage.
  • Testing SMS and one-time-password flows in software you build, including automated test suites.
  • Keeping your personal number private when signing up to a service that requires a phone number.
  • Receiving business notifications on a line separate from your personal number.

Prohibited uses

You must not use SMSPVO to:

  • Commit fraud of any kind, including payment fraud, promotion abuse, or obtaining goods, services or credit by deception.
  • Impersonate another person, business or organisation, or create accounts that hold themselves out as someone else.
  • Phish or steal credentials, or take part in any social-engineering attack.
  • Harass, threaten, stalk or abuse anyone, or facilitate someone else doing so.
  • Circumvent security or enforcement on another platform — including evading a ban, defeating anti-fraud systems, or creating accounts in bulk contrary to that platform’s rules.
  • Send or solicit spam, or take part in unsolicited bulk messaging.
  • Break the law in your jurisdiction or in the jurisdiction of the number you are using.
  • Access another person’s account without their authorisation.
  • Resell or share access in a way that hides the identity of the actual user from us.

Sensitive information

Do not use SMSPVO numbers to receive banking credentials, medical information, government identity codes, or anything else whose exposure would cause serious harm. Numbers are recycled between customers, and messages arriving after your activation ends may be delivered to a different customer. This is a structural property of the service, not a defect.

Automated use

Automated purchasing through our API is permitted and expected. It must stay within the rate limits published in our documentation, and must not be used to acquire numbers in volumes intended for any prohibited purpose above.

How we enforce this

We apply automated risk controls and manual review. Depending on severity we may:

  • Flag an account for review while leaving it operational.
  • Block a specific action, such as a purchase that trips a risk rule.
  • Suspend an account pending investigation.
  • Close an account permanently and withhold the remaining balance.
  • Report the activity to law enforcement or to the affected platform.

Reporting abuse

If you believe an SMSPVO number has been used against you or your platform, report it through our contact page with the number, the approximate time and what happened. We investigate every report.

If you believe your own account was restricted in error, open a support ticket and we will review it.
